Answer 44

Supplication while making Wudhu before and after

There is no proof that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said any dua during wudhu whilst washing or wiping his limbs, etc.

Any such duas that are known are bidah (innovation) and have no basis.

What is known from Islamic sources is that one should say

“Bismillahir Rahma nir-Raheem”at the beginning,

After finishing one should recite the Shahadatayn (testimony of faith)

“Ashadu an la ilaha ill Allah, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluhu (I bear witness that that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and messenger.

and say,

“Allahumma ajalni min at-tawwabeen wajalni min al-mutatahhireen” (O Allah, make me one of those who repent and make me one of those who purify themselves).
